LEEDS
At Leigh Vaeth, we know that every design choice matters, especially when it comes to sustainable building practices. Our Italian porcelain pavers can play a key role in earning LEED credits for Heat Island Reduction, helping to create cooler, more environmentally friendly outdoor spaces.
In LEED v4, hardscape materials such as roads, sidewalks, courtyards, and parking lots must meet specific Solar Reflectance (SR) requirements to reduce heat absorption and mitigate urban heat islands. Unlike LEED 2009, which required Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) documentation, the updated standard focuses solely on SR values. Our Italian porcelain pavers meet these criteria while delivering exceptional durability, beauty, and design versatility.
The document below shows the requirements for hardscape and shade-providing architectural devices and structures. In LEED version 4, paving materials require documentation for Solar Reflectance only, not the SRI asked for in LEED 2009.
